Test- Taking Tips for Elementary Students
Tips to give your child about taking tests:
Relax. Just do the best you can.
Your first choice is usually correct.
Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep before a test , and make sure your child eats properly the day of a test.
Get your child to school on time the day of the test.
Remind your child the test is important. Encourage him/her to do his/her best.
First Grade:
We are building great reading habits in first grade! This month the students are continuing to work on retelling stories that we have read in class. Students are providing key details and demonstrating understanding of their central message. They are referring to the story to support their thinking and practicing answering " thick questions" . Ask your child what this means!! Students will continue to practice their sight words and will take a sight word assessment every two weeks. Please practice sight words with your child nightly and make sure they are reading every night to build up those reading skills! Thank you for all that you do!
